People Summit Asia-Pacific aims to create a community for peers and experts to network with, learn from and grow together, to create safer care for all. The Summit will be hosted in Melbourne this year, and whether you have visited the city of four seasons many times, or this is your first, we put together some tips to make the most of your visit.
1. Enjoy one of Melbourne’s premier venues
Metropolis Events Melbourne is a truly stunning venue featuring panoramic views of the city across the Yarra River. You will be able to soak it all up (as always in Melbourne, weather permitting!) from the balcony.
We recommend the view at night, so join us at the Gala Dinner and Awards Night to celebrate with your peers. Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!
2. Make yourself at Home
The venue for this year’s People Summit Asia–Pacific is located to the West side of Southbank, near the St Kilda Arts’ precinct and the beautiful Hamer Hall. There are a multitude of places to stay along Southbank, however we have got a discount code for Oaks Melbourne Southbank and the Langham Melbourne specially for our delegates! Go to our FAQs Section to find out how to redeem your discount at either hotel for the Summit.
3. Pack for all Seasons
It’s an age old saying, ‘four seasons in one day’, but it’s said about Melbourne for a reason. You will be the perfect temperature in Metropolis at People Summit, but your morning coffee run may require shorts and a t-shirt or a sweater and umbrella!
4. Enjoy everything Melbourne has to offer
While staying on Southbank you will be able to stroll along the esplanade of the Yarra River with the Polly Woodside moored along the shores (which has travelled as far as some of our International Speakers!) or enjoy restaurants, cafes and bars floating on the water.
The National Gallery of Victoria is right around the corner from People Summit Asia-Pacific. If fashion is a guilty pleasure, the NGV is currently exhibiting an immersive international Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse collection.
5. Cafés & Laneways
Melbourne is famous for its café culture and laneways. With a short stroll to the North of the Yarra, you can enjoy the famous Melbourne coffee culture in Degraves Street, wander the levels of the Art Deco Nicholas Building on Flinders Lane or enjoy the street art of Hosier Lane.
6. Jump on the Tram
If you do get a chance to go into the CBD, we recommend you buy a Myki card before you travel as you cannot buy these once on board a tram. These are available at convenience stores, Flinders Street train station, or online.
People Summit Asia-Pacific is located on Southbank, so if you do want to avoid a one-off Myki card purchase, head to the north side of the river and you will enter the Free Tram Zone. You don’t need a Myki card if you stay within this area, and it is the easiest way to get around the CBD.
Register for your place to join us in Melbourne between 8th – 9th March at People Summit Asia-Pacific 2023 here.
